Yes, we tried another meatless product - the Morningstar Veggie Crumbles. Guess what the main ingredient is....TVP! Remember TVP? Textured Vegetable Protein. I had flashbacks of the 70's, yes-sir! How did we like it? Read on...
We tried this product using it in chili. It has ground beef taste and substitutes well for ground beef. The crumbles contain 78% less fat than ground beef. One 12 oz pkg of Grillers Veggie Recipe Crumbles is equal to 1-lb of uncooked ground beef. It's vitamin content has 20-30% of Vitamin B's in the recommended daily requirement.
Our chili was excellent and combined with the beans and tomatoes we were eating very healthy which also makes us happy - Happy and Healthy!

Bacon has come a long way, hasn't it? It's a food that has taken on more versions than any other food I can think of. There's pork bacon, turkey bacon, soy bacon, Morningstar bacon, a veggie bacon, bacon bits, and more!
My husband was fixing breakfast the other day when I was in another room. The aroma that drifted to me reminded me of waking up to breakfast in a campsite where the bacon and eggs are cooking as campers arise from their sleeping bags in the fresh air in the woods. It was delightful!
Then I saw the package - Morningstar Farms Veggie Breakfast Bacon Strips. It may smell like bacon, but....it didn't look like bacon, and if I closed my eyes, I believe I tasted some bacon. It does have a crunch and it can be microwaved easily. It has 1 gram net carbs which works great for low-carb diets.
It is an OK alternative to the real thing and excellent for certain restrictive diets. But you may have a mutiny if you take it camping!!

I recently picked up some Benefiber chewable tablets for free using a store rebate and a coupon. With the price being right, we wanted to give these a "test drive." You would think that an Orange Creme flavor would make the fiber go down easier....wrong!
Three tablets have 35 calories, 8 grams carbs, 4 grams sugar and 3 grams of fiber. It seems to me that if you're taking fiber "medicine," it should contain more fiber. Wouldn't you think?
With as chalky and awful tasting as this was, I think I'll stick with natural sources of fiber in vegetables, cereals, etc. In this case, celery tastes so much better than orange creme!

Rhodes has definitely outdone themselves with the various products in the freezer section lately. And the 30-minute cinnamon rolls are no exception. They are so easy, and honestly, could be better than mom used to make! (Sorry mom)
There are 9 rolls in a bag. You put the rolls on a pan and straight into the oven - no rise time! Bake them for 30 minutes is all. Then drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the top.
These are so easy it is a fun, non-messy way to bake with kids. And a quick, non-messy treat for the sweet tooth.
So, when you need to take a homemade treat to the family party or scouts, this is it! No one will ever know you didn't spend 4 hours making them from scratch!
Until next time...
