Colossimo Sausage
Can I just say, I love trying new foods! We sampled Colossimo Bratwurst at Sam's Club last week. It was tasty, both the spicy and the regular brats. And the horseradish mustard complemented it perfectly (and drained my sinuses). These will be perfect for our family reunion coming up! Here's why, and here's what we're adding to it...
The price for a 50 pound case breaks down to $2.39/lb, which is an excellent price in quantity. Or a package of 8 is around $3. There is a spicy Italian or a regular flavor.
Steam the bratwurst in water (or beer, depending on how German you are). Then cook on the grill until the outsides brown. We used Beer'n Brat Horseradish Mustard (no beer in it, just the name). The flavor was so good, and complented the brats perfectly.
We also learned that if you add cooked granny smith apples to canned or bottled coleslaw, it adds additional flavor to the sauerkraut...and it did!
We also experimented with German Potato Salad by cooking the potatoes in the microwave. It saved time, and it's easier to get the potatoes the right doneness.
Since the family reunion is an extended, German family, we have the perfect picnic right here!
Until next time,
~Paula
